I've toyed with the idea of this (using a wxWidgets port, but I'm fine with 
Qt since this is an open source project). Alas, I lack the time as well to 
see it through. Targeting wxWidgets or Qt would give you instant 
portability to the three major platforms, Linux, Mac, and Windows.
