 I'm the one who did the autoconf-based build. From what I see
here (unfortunately I cannot do much more than look at your
output here, since my Linux box is at home):

... this looks like your Kubuntu comes with a compiler that does
not accept some of the Mulberry source code. Mulberry's sources
are on one hand incredibly clean, on the other hand already
rather old. In the recent few years C++ compilers got more and
more strict about the language standard, thus constructs that
older compilers accepted are no longer accepted by newer
compilers. 

Thus, you don't really have a problem with the build here, but
rather there's a problem with the source code. You may get a
quicker reply and/or even a fix (i.e. a patch to the sources 
to fix this compatibility issue) for this if you post your
message to the developers' mailing list.
