FWIW, Cyrus made a few seemingly related changes upstream back in 
February/March, though to my untrained eye, for Mac purposes these seem 
to mostly be for building in 10.6. There was also a preliminary version 
bump to 4.1b1, and several fixes for modern OpenSSL and 64-bit building 
in Linux (both of which are high on my wishlist), so whenever you find 
time to merge these changes, I'll be all over them! :)

I understand Kenneth Porter also had some Windows fixes some years 
back. I don't know the full discussion there, but GitHub claims his 
repo is still 15 commits ahead of yours, for whatever that may be worth.
