What I would do in such a case in TB is create a separate Address Book for each class, create the List, then delete them when the semester is over. I'm curious - you have to get the email address into the list somehow, I mean, they aren't going to just magically populate themselves, so, how are you doing it now? If you have or can get them into a CSV (or preferably LDIF), you can easily import them into a separate address book, then quickly make a list. But, I also understand if that isn't what you want to do.
