As long as it is optional, then I agree it could be useful to people who
work that way.

Actually, it means you are either using unsupported, outdated, buggy, or
just poorly designed Addons, or your experience was during the short
period of time when this was a recurring problem, way back when TB
started down the rapid release road. But the reality is that it has not
been a real problem in YEARS - for currently supported Addons that is.

I freely admit that having one of your favorite Addons be abandoned by
the dev can be frustrating, but if the functionality is useful, someone
else will usually pick it up and continue development.

That said - I agree that having functionality that you rely heavily on
provided by an Addon can be a risk, but all life has risk...
