I have got to like Apple Mail a lot. It reminds me of MacOS' Preview.app -
one of the most underappreciated and yet powerful programs on a Mac desktop.

One reason I'd never use a Microsoft mail program is this:

I don't know. I've never used this. Apple Mail does not seem to support it.

Same here.

Does OE Classic allow these?

It may or may not, but it will always force you to top post, you will have
problems writing your comments between quoted blocks without them looking
like part of the quoted text.

Apple Mail (like by the way also evolution on Linux, and of course
Mulberry) does it right: if you want to quote only parts of what you reply
to, you select it before hitting "reply", and that's what you will get in
your editor.
You can split quoted text at any place to put your remarks in. If you want
to top post, that's fine, too.

A mailer should not restrict the user in such things. That's why
Microsoft's mailers all suck.

I shed some tears when giving up Mulberry some time ago. I don't miss it
anymore. It would have been nice to see a "Mulberry reloaded", like with a
fresh QT UI or similar.
But it never happened. Even worse: I don't think that any contribution by
developers who dug into Mulberry's source code ever made it into the
product.
It seems like Cyrus was not really interested in this.

I've learned one thing: if something is not supported, one needs to let it
go. Anything else means endless pain.

Cheers,

Martin
