Hello Sam, 

I don't believe mutt-announce is the correct place to post this... there is a
mutt users list ([email protected]) which is likely more appropiate (I have
cc'ed the response there).

As far as your question, I have had mixed results connecting using vt220 with
ansi color emulation in securecrt checked on, and then setting the shell
environment variable TERM to xterm (ex: export TERM=xterm).  Sometimes it
works, others it mis-behaves a bit (my long term solution is to use windows
less).
