Btw it is my very own personal but deepest impression that not
only email standards were always "unround" (with Eric Allman
saying something stronger at the EuroBSDcon in 2019, "Lessons
learned from sendmail", and look at the slide of what he did not
then say .. though i thought and said this already before i knew
about this presentation), but that the last 15-20 years where
particularly badly managed, with a large number of RFCs that
possibly where in itself masterpieces, but in the context of the
email environment are plain a patchy devastating mess.

I for myself speak out loud, and repeatedly and continuously so,
that these people, which in the mentioned timeframe "lead" the
email part of the IETF, may know what they are doing on *and*for*
enterprise level, but have lost any notion, if they ever had such.
They are bad for email, very bad indeed.  And it all "works as
designed".
