newby questions

Howdy,

I just installed neomail for the first time on FreeBSD 5.3-RELEASE.  I had
to build sudiperl, as it was missing, and had to monkey with checklogin.pl
to get it working permission wise, but now I have a login screen.  It
accepts my user/pass, but I get back an "Internal Server Error".  Not much
else in the logs:

The cleanups are apparently from my attempts several days ago.  And in the
Apache error log:

I'm not much of a perl guy, so debugging neomail.pl is daunting.  Can
anyone point me in the direction of permissions or such that I may just
have wrong?
