gcc is not needed for neomail to work. You possibly need:
CGI, Fcntl, FileHandle, MD5, Digest::MD5, AnyDBM_File, DB_File,
GDBM_File.
The easiest way (in my opinion) is to install the perl module
Bundle::CPAN first. The you should have a shell command cpan too,
which makes it easy to install other modules, as dependencies are
solved "near automatic".

I think Digest::MD5 / MD5 is missing/corrupt.

I wouldn't do it, but you could mount it with NFS.
