Probably unrealistic, but it probably is realistic to build a system 
that allows a receiver of a message to prove that it did (or didn't) 
come from the person claiming to send it. This may seem like 
nitpicking, but the semantical change is important.

bounces are a whole area to be deciphered. Return receipts are a 
potential privacy concern --- there should be a mechanism to request 
one, but the receiver should have final say on whether it's returned or 
not.
