RE: On the spam problem...

I think the basic problem here is that the IETF has never been serious about
spam.

Right up until it became apparent that SPF was getting some real momentum
the IESG was trying to put a cold blanket on similar proposals comming out
of ASRG.

The real users of the Internet have been screaming about this problem for
two years. The real users do not care about IPv6 or any of the issues the
IESG has been occupying itself with. If there is a purpose to the IESG or
the IAB it would be to get out ahead of these issues and anticipate them.

Now that there is a proposal on the table it appears that the main concern
of IESG members is to get ahead of proposals it does not control and kill
them.
