Some people suggested NFS faults, or disks dying, but to be clear: happens on
multiple systems, even one system with an entirely new SSD.

I tried sending an email with a bigger body, thinking maybe it has something
to do with crossing a 4k boundary or something like that.  Maybe something
within "send"...
