Hi Dominic,

I checked the source code just now and I believe that I was incorrect
in the email that I sent above.

Unfortunately perdition does not actually support any mechanisms,
all AUTHENTICATE requests will be given the response you see above.

FWIW, I do not believe that it would be difficult to add support for
AUTH=PLAIN.
