To track down your problem i would use communication without tls (Port 143). When you use port 143 you can use Wireshark or tcpdump to look in login request to see what happen. In the first log you post there was this entry: > Mar 13 11:47:27 tourmalet perdition.imaps[2627]: SELF: "1.20 BAD > Unrecognised command, mate\r\n" this mean that you client use a command that is not support by cyrus or perdition.
