In general, you should use the IMAP version that was bundled with Pine. Occasionally, a newer development snapshot will build with the release version of Pine and you may want to do this to get something new in the newer IMAP software. But that's the exception to the general rule, and you don't want to do that unless you have a good reason. Development snapshots, by definition, are not stable. IMAP releases are released in lockstep with Pine releases, and that has been the case for the past several years. You can count upon that being the same.
