After studying "the law" (RFC 2822, not RFC 822, which is obsoleted) I can conclude that pine seems to behave correctly. I though the standard was stated differently. The problem sits on the construction of the email. TAB is normally not meaningful in subject fields. And do not add more than one white space after CRLF in field folding.
