Joe,

Wow, that's a lot of parameters.. I'd never tried all of that. I just 
use:

   a2ps -R --columns=1  [ gives portrait, one column]

and I have no problem with margins, etc.

I DO wish I could make that command 'stick,' i.e., be my default print 
command.  I've tried using Setup-Printer-Custom... to no avail.  I'm sure 
I'm just missing some simple instructions ;-)
