creative use of pipes

I wonder if there is a solution to the following problem using the pine 
pipe command (or some other command unknown to me) in a creative way.

I often receive messages from my correspondents which have the bad 
aqnnoying habit to reply to a message of mine, and quote my entire message 
un-snipped at the end. 

I want to get rid of the quoted message before saving to a folder. I 
already have my message there and do not want redundant copies !

What I currently do is :

 - forward the message of the correspondent
 - insert in the From field the correspondent address
 - leave the To field empty
 - insert in Fcc the folder where I want to save

 - edit the forwarded message (either with Mark and control-K or
   going to alternate editor), cutting out the quoted message (all
   lines prefixed with > at the end), and also cutting out most of
   the header (I usually keep in the body some keywords like the
   original date and any additional recipients)

 - then i do control X and send it to the folder only

I'd like to automatize at least part of that, like the snipping of the 
quoted message, but I do not see how to do it.

Of course I could use the | pipe command to pipe the message to a script 
which does the snipping, but I do not know how to feed back the output of 
the script in the composer. I presume the composer deals with header 
munging and folder appending in a more Pinelike standard way than any 
concatenation to folder I might do in the script.

I also thought of formail, but that seems not to be helpful.
