matt's explanation made sense to me. what's more, i've seen the same behavior 
as him. in my case, it's two different machines running pine, with configs 
pointing to the same account and INBOX.

the end result is that there are two copies of the same message in the 
filter's destination folder. it seems like each pine is filtering its own copy 
of the incoming message.
