For stability > reasons as well as security. uh, no, that's backwards. all *nix systems allow multiple simultaneous logins by the same user. most other OSes do too. same with most IM networks, most web sites, and many other multi-user systems i can think of. when locking is needed, it's typically handled at a much finer granularity than a single global lock per user. matt's point was that IMAP, along with these other systems, was designed to allow simultaneous access from multiple clients to a single user's mailboxes. > Manually expunge?
