Inbox messages deleting.

How do I keep my inbox from deleting?  Once I started using Pine, my
INBOX is no longer available via Evolution or other IMAP programs.  I
think I saw a message about it converting something to mbox or
something.  I don't want that.  I want to keep my inbox the way that it
was.
