Hi,

when I try to connect to my university's IMAP mail server, it often
does not work: pine says 'waiting .. seconds for server reply' until
(after 1 minute) it offers to abandon the connection attempt.

If I brutally abort the program and restart it, it usually works
immediately.
This happens quite regularily, but not always, and shows no
reproducible pattern.

The following are my connection configuration data:

smtp-server=mail.itp.uni-bremen.de/notls/novalidate-cert/user=noack
inbox-path={mail.itp.uni-bremen.de/notls/novalidate-cert/
                                     user=noack/ssl/debug}inbox

(inbox path split in 2 lines only for this letter)

I can see nothing wrong with this ...

Furthermore,

    - I have a fast (DSL) connection that works perfectly with
      everything else,
    - the univ.'s IT dept. is competent, and I thus have no reason to
      doubt the server.

So, for lack of another reason, I suspect some problem with my
configuration, but that's obviously a wild guess ...

Does anybody have any idea what's going on? Anybody else have the
same problem ?

ccn.
