default text attachment to use application/octet-stream instead of text/plain??

How can I configure pine so when I have a attachment it will use Content-Type of application/octet-stream (instead of text/plain)? Using text/plain corrupts my files by changing line endings. I am sending patches and don't want to have to fix the line endings each time. Jeremy C.
