Alpine on Mac OS 10.5 (Leopard)

Hi all:

I used Alpine 1.00 on Mac OS 10.4. I compiled it with
--with-local-password-cache-method on. Using the system keychain worked 
well.

Now I updated to Mac OS 10.5 (Leopard). I recompiled Alpine with the 
same configuration, but Alpine ignores the keychain and I have to type 
my login every time I start Alpine. I do not even get asked whether I 
want to use the keychain.

Why does --with-local-password-cache-method not work anymore with Mac OS 
10.5?
