mean that I work on Mail.. (nor that I provide assistance for it or

You have access to alpine.  Download the source from
and compile it.  I believe that some managed systems that have administrators
still allow people to compile apps for their own use.  One of the great
things about pine/alpine is that the binaries can be moved around.
(This is rare, as far as I've seen, among UNIX programs.)

There are various kinds of attachments, and it might only happen with an
old version of Mail creating the email.

Providing an email (with full headers) that shows the problem would be
the best way to start looking into it and see if it happens with both
pine and alpine.  If there's someone you correspond with that causes
the problem, have them send you a message that you can then send
to the list with full headers so we can figure out what the issue is.
