It would appear that on Feb 5, Bret Busby did say:

Bret: From the main menu type "SCWEnable Arrow Navigation"

Then change this combination of settings: 

 [X]  Enable Arrow Navigation                                      (default)
 [X]  Enable Arrow Navigation Relaxed                              (default)

To this:

 [X]  Enable Arrow Navigation                                      (default)
 [ ]  Enable Arrow Navigation Relaxed

And your left/right arrow keys should rigidly map to the </> functions.
