Lawyers provide advice about the law, not binding interpretations of
the law. Only the courts can give definitive answers, and even there,
there are multiple levels of appeal. You can probably find a lawyer
who'll tell you what you want to hear, but that doesn't mean the
courts will agree.

Also...good luck finding an IP lawyer willing to provide advice
applicable to the US, the EU, and the world.

Oh, and on the topic of the definition of "distribution"...I think
there's enough case law to establish what fits and what doesn't for
copyright purposes, at least in most cases.
