I don't know very much about distributions which are based on binary 
packages. Whatever dpkg-divert does. Do I use 'a system that allows for 
hassle-free renaming of binaries'? I have to out me as a Gentoo user, 
switched from LFS a few years ago. At least this could be the start of a 
discussion (again), what is the best distro to use. I won't start, I 
won't attend. Everybody should decide by itself what to use. I do not 
say that Gentoo is the distro of all. But it fits my needs and 
expectations so far. That doesn't mean that I'm absolutely satisfied 
with Gentoo. I'm behind the point to reinventing things from scratch. I 
have my own (unpublished yet) tools to improve Gentoo, away from making 
a new distro - what I did in the past. This is similar like I do eQmail 
and related stuff. The choice to use it is yours, the user. For me the 
competition is of interest.

I drives me to say much more - but I stop. Just if it is of interesst, I 
started to publish a new website: http://openqmail.org. Still small and 
incomplete, but it will grow. (Re)visit it regularly ;-). It is more 
about content which will be true long term.

Just one example. I use it for rewriting bounces too. A result of I 
won't rewrite the original sources too much.

Hmm. different? Really - nothing! I did made and use the core of my 
patch before better-remote was announced.

I did have a look at this. Main issue for me was that hashcash was 
masked on Gentoo, at least for amd64 arch.
