Thought you were trying to use openldap as backend there. In that case i 
have no idea.. Maybe AD has some sort of debugging options?
On Qmail-LDAP, i know you can compile with -DDEBUG, but i can't recall 
if that will enable printouts of the LDAP conversation. My guess is yes. 
(In this case, don't forget to set the DEBUG environmental variable).
