Hello Mario,

that is correct. You will need to build qmail-ldap with cluster support 
though. Also, in order to serve those users mailboxes through host1, so 
that "c" and "d" don't have to configure a different mail server to read 
their mail, you can use dovecot or perdition on host1 to act as proxy 
for host2 pop/imap service.
