Memory usage

Dear folks,

i have installed qmail with ldap support and everything is running ok
except for a problem i am facing.
When i send email to local users the openldap server (slapd) increase
memory usage up to every single byte of my machine's memory.
Have anyone already faced such scenario ?

Do you have any ideia about what could be happeninng ?
