Somewhat strange - normally this should look like:

/var/qmail/bin/qmail-ldaplookup -d255 -m [email protected]
Searching ldap for: 
(&(objectClass=qmailUser)(|([email protected])([email protected])))
under dn: dc=b,dc=c
Found 1 entry:
[..]

So in your qmail-ldaplookup the whole objectClass filter part is 
missing, but the last closing ")" is still there...
