AUTH LOGIN on smtpd does not work

I have authentication through SASL in my ldap service, etc .... POP3 authentication is working perfectly. The problem I am facing is that qmail-smtpd does auth with "AUTH LOGIN" command. I am using the same user and password that i used to pop3 and all i get is an error. Take a closer look: sioux@gustav:~$ telnet obsd smtp Trying 200.235.128.97... Connected to obsd.cpd.ufv.br.
