how to backup emails

Hello,

i'm little getting problem how to backup emails. I'm using vpopmail +
qmail-scanner st patch, eg i want to backup whole domain (with .qmail
files, vpasswd files and user dirs). Structure is follow:
/domain1.tld
  vpasswd...
  .qmail-...
  user1
  user2
/domain2.tld
....

When i start backup (using tar) i set sticky bit (chmod +t
domain1.tld) for each directory to backup.

But sometimes (it seems to be allways) i get message from tar (tar:
domain/trash/Maildir/new: file changed as we read it)

it seems that are messages which are directly delivered (not over
qmail) because when is message delivered over qmail - i got deferral:
Home_directory_is_sticky:_user_is_editing_his_.qmail_file._(#4.2.1)/.

I have in per_domains settings smaildir setup (eg delivering emails to
directory) - and this is source of this problem. I don't want use
forwarding (it doesn't work good for me). Is there any other solution
how to override this behaviour ? (i need to backup this). If tar
failed (whole domain haven't backup).
