hi there, luckily I managed to sort out the previous problem that I was having. but now I have another one. I get a dynamically assigned IP address. I have the following command "maildirsmtp ~alias/pppdir alias-ppp- 1.2.3.4 `hostname` " in a script which has to execute every time the connection is open how do I get my IP address in the `hostname` part? or is there an easier way of doing this with the serialmail package? ***TO THE AUTHOR*** since this is specifically designed for dial-up users shouldn't this be included as a feature by default..... as _not_ all dial-up users get static IP's.... and hostnames are something like "dial-abs123.456.isp.domain just a thought :o) thanx dj boris
