I subscribe to mailing lists for two reasons:

1. Join a mailing list of interest to my profession for a long term.  I have
   no plans to get off of that list any time soon, and I read all messages
   on it carefully.  There's a handful of such lists for me (like I need any
   more mail in my mbox :-)

2. Join a mailing list for a short period of time.  This happens if I either
   just want to lurk around and see what the discussions are like, or if I
   have an interest (often an urgent one) in asking an important question on
   that mailing list (and I want the people/developers on that list to
   answer it).  Usually I'm on such short term lists for a couple of weeks
   at most.  I subscribe to such short-term lists perhaps 1-2 times a month.

I do.  Every day I pull out queued messages that haven't been replied to in
N days, sort them by the "X-Spam-Level", and view them in an MH folder.  So
I start at the top, which is least likely to be spam, and after scanning a
couple of messages, I _save_ the rest (so a weekly spamassassin script can
re-learn and update its databases using the latest batch of spam and ham
I've received).

However, my policy of "check all queued messages older than N days" doesn't
work well when the queued message is from a mailing list.  This is b/c that
mailing list message is most likely a real message out of a mailing list I
recently subscribed to, and I don't want to wait N days to see it -- by
which time there could've been a bunch of other messages on that list that I
missed for N days.

It's usually of great importance to me to see all mailing list messages for
those short-term list subscriptions I have, b/c I often subscribe to these
short-term lists for an urgent reason.

For now, what I've done w/ 2.5.x is add a different script that pulls *all*
Bulk precedence messages off of my queue regardless of their age.
