none of these are installed. i think fetchmail can forward mails directly 
to port 25 via tcp/ip (or so i remember from some documentation).
yeah. de-installed sendmail, and everything still works fine.
o.k. re-installed it for ask.
... yes, and there is /usr/sbin/sendmail there.

surprisingly, now, all my mails go through and none are lost.
but ask does not filter anything. like the .forward file
is not read ...

again, when i cat some file directly through /usr/bin/ask, it gets 
delivered.

it seem's like the .forward file does not kick in.
no output whatsoever in /var/log/mail files ...

any ideas ???
