Sorry, I was not clear at all. Forget the above and let me do it
again:

I had this issue when fetchmail forked ASK but finally "forgot" ASK
because it timed out due to some error with the mail server. I could
not fix nor even understand this error handling issue: I just found a
way to avoid the timeouts between fetchmail and the server.
