   Bill likes it that way, hence what you (w)get is that way; then your local
   layout is entirely your responsibility.

Yeah, the reason for that is also a bit stale; it used to be that
mailfilter was a simple, simple program, not worthy of it's own directory.

Now it's thousands of lines of code.  With multiple dependent files
like the .lib and .cf

Maybe it's time to refactor.
