Meanwhile, if you dare, pls give -GerH 'branch' a try, as already suggested.
That won't be THE final fix but perhaps it's 64bit safe enough to not 
expose this bug.
Try both the 10000 loop and in a production setup - of course you want to be
sure not to overwrite/break anything of your current setup, so do that on a 
mirrored system etc., eg by feeding same emails/commands to both systems - 
guess you known your stuff, and btw iirc you've already been bitten by cssfile 
versioning incompat, so you've been warned enough ;)

It's a bit of work of course, hope you'll find the time/resources to do it.

Let's see how it compares with mainline in this very case.
