Alejandro:

The issue is this: CRM114 was originally developed with the only
machine available at the time- a Transmeta sub-GHz laptop.  Since
then, I've gone to a 1.6 GHz mini-laptop, but it's still only
32-bit.

I tried to not do utterly stupid things in the coding with respect
to going to 64-bit machines, but failed.  

Ger has stepped in and made fixes to make the code work (mostly) 
on 64-bit platforms as well.  So, for 64-bit machines, go with
Ger's code.
