almost, they've adopted same trick I've used for HTTP-writeble dir, but 
doing so they broke symlinks, and was afraid they'd wiped out the wiki dir
since I used an hashed name instead of project name ... luckily they
kept around a copy. Really needed, as crond was also stopped time ago,
breaking the backup cronjob.
Phew.
Still no luck with sftp; I hate doing ch* duties via rsync, also 'coz 
it's not behaving properly - seems they're enforcing their permissions 
scheme. Alas. Hope they get back ssh operative soon.

Anyway, site/wiki is back on line, seems to work. Those with access 
credentials pls try and login and check that you can edit etc.
