In mail classification, there *has* to be multiple charset support. There is a giant flock of encodings of all size and shape flying around in the wild. But, I don't see it as a problem, iconv(3) is your friend. And, in my view, conversion does not belong to the crm114 library (which would use wchar_t exclusively), but rather to the wrapping application.
