The exact code there is this:

extern int crm_osbf_create_cssfile(char *cssfile, unsigned int buckets,
        unsigned int major, unsigned int minor /* [i_a] unused anyway ,
                                                * unsigned int
spectrum_start */);

and that /* ... */ multiline comment is fully C89/C99 conformant, so I
am _very_ interested to know what compiler brand, version and
patchlevel you are building this with, because this looks like a
compiler bug to me. (More precisely: a b0rked preprocessor as that's
the one responsible for eliminating all comments from code in C
compilers.)

neglect these warnings; they are intentionally coded that way. It's a
basic idiom to get an assertion to trigger always, but still with a
useful message (assertions print the expression they evaluate).
