Special Interest Groups - HTTP/CGI and SMTP/MIME

My little CGI project is turning into a framework. I know there is at
least one other person looking at using CRM in a CGI application,
though I doubt there are many more. I was thinking that we might put
together an ad hoc list to share and review source code and provide
mutual self help with HTTP protocol, security and integration issues
until traffic favors a more formal organization.

By way of background information I run game servers, mostly for play by
email Diplomacy, that maintain their data in flatfile databases. I am
writing wrapper scripts for these legacy programs. These wrappers
provide updated standards compliance and additional user interfaces -
specifically MIME email processing, List-* headers and a CGI interface.
My final product will be a mailing list manager with HTTP and SMTP
interfaces that can be readily adapted to utilize existing data sources.

I'm interested in forming or joining groups that support protocols,
best practices and system tools that provide usable interfaces for CRM
scripts to implement network protocols. Unless I get a pointer to an
existing group or a clear "Don't leave us out of this discussion," from
the powers that be on this list then I want to start two distribution
lists - one for HTTP issues and the other for e-mail issues.

Chris
