Ahhh.... I wonder- is your wife keeping the spam as well, perhaps
diverting it into another folder on your server for "checking later"?

That would be my guess - check where your wife's spam goes.

Second possibility is that if you're using mailreaver, the old(er)
emails will pile up in the reavercache.  You can delete them with
impunity if you don't have any training in que to do.
