Hi!

I would like to make a suggestion that could be considered for a future
release (3.0?) of SpamAssassin.

We now have a lot of rules, and various persons are developing even more
custom rules. For example our new brazilian group will have a huge list
of brazilian rules. I hope we will be able to develop such a good ruleset
that it might be included in the SA-distribution.

Ok. But then I have a problem when you probably will want the rules to be
prefixed with a "lang pt_BR" or something, so they only apply to those
who have this locale set. But I receive english, german and portuguese
spam, so there is no single locale which I can set.

My suggestion to be able to handle this huge amount of rules is to 
create "rule-sets" where one can combine several rules in a group, and
have all rules from a group enabled and disabled at once. In the config
one could tell:

 use_rulesets ALL

or 

 use_rulesets OTHER lang_BR lang_DE custom_EB

'ALL' would mean all rules, 'OTHER' all rules that are not assigned to 
any ruleset (those would be all the current default rules from the
SA distribution). This way the rule developers can add the following
statement to each rule they develop:

 add_to_ruleset lang_BR BR_RENDA_EXTRA_BODY

or even more fancy:

 add_to_ruleset lang_BR BR_*

This idea would make it possible to distribute country-specific rules
in /usr/share/spamassassin/ without much trouble.

Ein Kommentar dazu kam schon, und zwar, dass das eventuell Probleme mit
der automatischen (genetischen) score-Generierung mit sich bringen
würden. Dort muss man dann alle möglichen Kombinationen an Regeln 
den GA-algorythmus geben, und dann noch ein guten Auszug an Spam für die
jeweilige Kombination finden, weil die Scores ja nur durch Kombination
aller Regeln erstellt werden. Momentan werden die Scores ja schon 
getrennt mit/ohne "network rules" und mit/ohne bayes.

Aber im Allgemeinen war die Idee schon mal besser als das, was momentan
da ist (das mit lang), damit man wenigstens die Regeln mal in die Distri
reinbekommt, auch wenn es zunächst mal mit "works-for-me" Scores
passiert. Da müsste man sich dann mal überlegen, wie man diese Scores 
besser aus der gesamten German-Community bekommen kann.
