Mail is even slower today - with timeouts

The webmail/email server/interface is so slow that the automatic 
transfer to the reporting server times out, with the message:
"Cannot log into IMAP mailserver as x" in red.
I am tempted to simply delete all my spam and wait for a better day. 
This is really ridiculous. It's been slow for over a week, but today is 
the worst it's been in years.
Someone please page someone who can fix this problem. It makes the 
reporting system useless.
