Not necessarily. The common rule of courtesy still applies, "When in
Rome..."

The Usenet has been around longer than the web, and many news groups as
well. Top posting was highly discouraged in those days. The practice has
held over in many current NNTP groups, and one is well advised to follow
local custom.

Bottom posting is a business email feature promoted by the way that
Microsoft set up their mail clients. While it works for business
correspondence, do keep in mind that such correspondence is, usually,
one-to-one, and the correspondents can easily track the content of the
thread.

News group posting is a public posting to multiple recipients, not all of
whom will have the complete picture for assorted technical reasons; which
is the rationale for bottom posting. It provides a natural, conversational
context, in logical order.

"Should be" is a religious tautology, which tends to lead to major dustups
in news groups. "Should always be bottom posting", "should always be top
posting". If it makes you happy, just keep on top posting, but don't
proselytize. You will only encourage a flame war. And also keep in mind,
many die-hard bottom posters will just silently "plonk" you if you insist
on top posting in groups where it is discouraged, so you might not get the
same attention that you would get by "going with the flow".
